Aloyse DIOUF

Mr. Aloyse DIOUF is a Cultural Affairs Advisor who has worked at the Ministry of Culture of Senegal. He has held several positions within his country’s cultural administration, including that of Director General of the Senegalese Decorative Arts Manufactories from March 2015 to March 2024, serving in this capacity for nearly ten years.

With extensive experience in cultural management, he successfully revitalised this flagship institution of Senegal’s cultural and creative industries, which was founded in 1966 by President Léopold Sédar SENGHOR. The institution specialises in the production of major works of art, particularly fine tapestries that are displayed around the world in prominent national and international institutions, including royal palaces and presidential residences.

A man of initiative, Mr. Diouf has contributed significantly to the training of young Senegalese in the fields of decorative arts, including carpet and tapestry weaving, ceramics, and textile dyeing. He also developed the concept of “Arts, Culture and Tourism” within the institution, initiating a programme to rehabilitate and transform its premises through the development of a cultural hotel, a restaurant, and a fully equipped performance space. These initiatives were designed to provide visitors with attractive cultural facilities set within a lush and welcoming environment.

Currently, he is in the process of establishing a cultural enterprise specialising in cultural management and the dissemination of artistic, heritage, and creative services.
