Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

Born in France and based in Mauritius, Koheeallee Ameera graduated from the University of Mauritius with a Bachelors in Fine Arts and is currently an art educator at Jean Marie Frank Richard S.S.S. Inspiration for her works comes from her love for the sea, and how humanity has destroyed this vast and integral part of our earth. She aims to give marine creatures a voice in the discussion of climate change, particularly in the area of plastic pollution. These acrylic paintings are also incorporated with plastic in as a way of upcycling the material while driving her message home even further. Upon observing her work, some may feel torn between the realism of the creatures she paints and the obscurity of the composition due to her fascination with the works of Van Gogh, Dali, and Dilloo. In 2019, she participated in a competition sponsored by the European Union on sustainable development in Mauritius and won first prize.
